Cordoba, Spain – A Travel Guide

The city of Cordoba was created by the Romans in the aim of making it a point of navigation in the Rio Guadalquivar. The Romans saw a lot of potential in the city because it has a very strategic location. They wanted to turn the city into one of the major ports in Spain. In those days, there was a lot of trading going on between the Romans and the Spanish. Spain traded wine, olive oil and wheat to the Romans during that time. Later on, the Romans made a huge bridge across the Rio Guadalquivar.

The Romans were finally ousted by the Arabs who came in full force and ruled over the city from 711 to 1263 AD. It was under the Arab rule that the Mezquita was built, specifically in 784 AD. In the 10th century it became famous after being renowned as the largest mosque in the world. In 1236 Cordoba was once again conquered by the Christians who also appreciated the unique beauty and design of the mosque. Instead of demolishing the Mezquita, the Christian rulers decided to consecrate the structure, added a chapel and turned the Mezquita into a cathedral. They added columns and arches to the Mezquita which made it all the more beautiful. Today, it is considered to be one of the most beautiful historical structures in not just Spain but the entire world.

After the rule of the Muslims and then the Christians, the influence of the Jewish invaded the city. During this time, narrow and winding streets were constructed in the ancient town quarters. Patios and shaded courtyards that are filled with beautiful flowers were also built in Cordoba. The La Plaza was built during that time. Today, the locals of Cordoba have a yearly contest on who has the most beautiful courtyard. Locals decorate their courtyards with beautiful flowers and then they are opened for viewing to the other locals and tourists. The entry with the most votes wins the contest.

Another great place to visit in location villa moraira is its ancient palace called the Alcazar Reyes. The palace has beautifully landscaped gardens where tourists may roam. Another tourist attraction is the museum of the Vivo de Al-Andalus which displays a huge collection of architectural and Roman pieces. The museum also has a recording of the city’s history that is available in various languages so that tourists from all over the world may learn about the history of Cordoba. You may also climb to the tower of the museum where you get a great view of the city. Another museum that you can visit is the Cordoba archaeological museum. It is a Renaissance palace that has been converted into a museum. It is also a great place to learn about the beautiful history of Cordoba.

The Sure Attractions of Murcia

The Murcia Province sports the capital with the same name. It has great commerce value since its days of glory. It is also very strong in agriculture. Its original inhabitants are the Iberian tribes who established active and booming commercial relations with both the Phoenicians and Greeks in the past. Murcia became a Carthaginian colony for a while before the Roman conquered it. The Moors came and developed the agricultural component which enhanced the region’s economy as they employed advanced technologies.

Costa Calida

This is caused by the protection from the Gulf of Mazarron which stretches as far as Cape Palos in Murcia to Cape Cabo de Gata that is located in Almeria. Thus, the cold Atlantic Ocean currents do not pass through the Gulf of Mazarron.

The crystal clear warm waters at Costa Calida prove to be ideal for all tourists desiring an ideal beach holiday. There are small sandy beaches with bays for further exploration and privacy.
